The Wildfire Edge Mid GORE-TEX® is a unique technical solution for alpinists, climbers, and mountaineers looking for an approach shoe with enhanced climbing performance. It's based on the Salewa Switchfit system, a smart yet simple solution that allows you to quickly adapt the fit for walking or climbing, compressing your foot at the toe box, similar to climbing shoes. Simply tighten the laces to push your foot forward to the toe box. When you're done climbing, return the laces to their original position for more room at the toe box and a more comfortable walk. For even greater climbing precision, the Wildfire Edge's insole also features an Edging Plate just below the side of the foot and the thumb for additional directional support. The rest of the insole remains flexible for comfort and natural movement. Plus, the 11mm of camber between the heel and toe is ideal for fast mountain climbs or excellent grip while climbing. The lightweight and flexible mid-cut upper is made from 1.6mm premium suede, and the Exa Shell layer offers enhanced torsional stability and adapts to the foot with the 3F System for greater flexibility, fit, and support. Inside, the GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort lining offers durable waterproofing and breathability, keeping water out and sweat easily wicking away. It also comes with stretch gaiters for added protection from snow, gravel, and debris, and you can customize the interior volume with the MFF+ insole. On the outside, the Wildfire Edge Mid GORE-TEX® features a Pomoca Speed MTN Pro outsole made with a Pomoca butyl rubber compound for increased grip and friction on rock in both dry and wet conditions. The outsole features a precision climbing zone at the toe, excellent ridge performance, and well-spaced lugs for improved traction on soft terrain such as mud or grass.
